What do you glory in?

You can tell an awful lot about a person by what they glory in. So what about you- what is your idea of glory? Mayo finally winning the all-Ireland? Manchester United winning the league? More personally, perhaps you finally getting that promotion that you have worked so long for which, hand in hand with a load of recognition, would financially secure you for some of these dream holidays that you would love to take.

None of those things are bad, but listen to what the Apostle Paul had to say on the matter; ‘God forbid that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ’.

For Paul, and every follower of Jesus, Christ deserves the highest honour as He already has the highest place being crowned king of highest Heaven and all the earth. What is utterly gobsmacking is that Jesus wants to share His place of honour with everyone who bows the knee to Him and trusts in His saving mercy which He accomplished on the Cross as the only way to enter Heaven.

This is glory in the fullest sense (and to think that Jesus wants to pass it on to His believing people!!), for this is the glory of Jesus!
