We have just started a new series on the prophet Isaiah in our Thursday evening Bible study meetings. Isaiah, although often neglected today, is one of those books which does blow your mind with his majestic and jaw dropping vision of God.
We see something of this in the very second verse of his book where we read- ‘Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken!’ For Isaiah, and for every wise person, God’s Word- whether in terms of sexuality, ethics, morality, economics, and everything else- was the final and ultimate authority on all matters.
God has spoken, so what are you going to do about it? Anything other than the most devoted listening resulting in a speedy compliance with all that God has said would have been utterly crazy to Isaiah. This is especially true when we remember that it is God’s Word alone that will determine whether we will be saved or lost come the Last Day.
