Today we are starting a new series of studies in the book of Ephesians. This letter is just pure gold and will, no doubt, be a great blessing to us all. The first words are- (Scripture is in italics).
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,
Paul was one of those never to be repeated band of men that Jesus had personally called to be one of his special messengers to deliver his special messages to the Church which is what we now have in the Bible.
To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus
Contrary to popular opinion ‘saints’ are not stained glass people who were super holy! In the Bible is a saint is ANYONE who has repented of their sins and trusts in Jesus. This is what Paul means with the ‘faithful in Christ Jesus’ bit.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
All of God’s blessing, peace and joy comes to us through Jesus Christ. In just three lines the Christian faith is summed up; the messenger of Jesus writes to the people of Jesus conveying to them the blessing of Jesus through the words of Jesus!
